In other words, you will either get a lap loving and very playful dog much like the King Charles or one that is aloof and reserved much like the Bichon Frise. In any case, there is no general temperament to expect from this breed.

Physically at maturity, these dogs will weigh anywhere in the region of fifteen to about thirty pounds. Variations in weight will of course depend on the kind of food intake they will be exposed to. As such it is suggested that they be fed only two times a day, in small amounts, of high energy and protein dog food. In terms of height they will reach a maximum of at least one foot, form the ground to the top of its head.

Before deciding to get this dog, make sure beforehand that you will have the energy to match its own. It is a dog that is descended from sporting lines and so it will require quite a bit of exercise daily. If you will plan to keep it indoors or in enclosed spaces for a majority of the time, do ensure that it gets at least a thirty minute walk outside every day. This will enable it to stretch its legs for a bit and also affords it the opportunity to let go of any pent up energy that it has acquired.

This dog has seen its popularity grow as many believe that the fur of the cavachon is hypoallergenic. In essence this is only partially true since the Bichon Frise is hypoallergenic while the King Charles Spaniel is not. Thus you will either get a dog which has hypoallergenic fur or not. It pays first to observe carefully if your puppy will trigger allergies of yours or of your friends, and then decide accordingly.

Despite its small size, this particular breed has a pretty impressive lifespan. Expect your puppy to live up to fifteen years or more with the proper care and nutrition. Regular visits to the veterinarian will also assist in going beyond the fifteen year lifespan average.

To arrive at a more informed decision, it pays to do additional research also on the health complications and also average price per puppy for the breed. Always make sure that you have all bases covered before making a final commitment.
