Once you buy a dog, it is wise to train it as soon as possible. This will sharpen the pup and make it respond to commands quicker. When you bring the dog to your home, the first thing is introducing it to its new home and family members. This is the perfect time to create a stable relationship with the dog. However, for the pup to learn, respect and trust you, it is wise to establish some expectations and being consistent with everything. Also, this is the ideal time to start a puppy potty training class to help it learn and respond to all commands accordingly.

Nonetheless, it is paramount to understand your pet before taming it. Hence, before you start the lessons, ensure that you know everything about that breed. Different breeds tend to have specific distinct behaviors. Search on the web and learn about any particular character that your pet may be having. Also, find out about how the body if the pet works so that it becomes easier to train it. Some breeds have tolerant bladders; thus, it can take longer than others. Knowing such things will greatly help you while taming the pup.

When you start to train your pup on where to pee and poop, make sure you watch it. Be very keen and notice how it behaves when it is about to urinate or defecate. Some pups usually start sniffing, circling and barking whenever they want to pee. Recognize these sudden changes in their behaviors and assist the puppies by taking them outside and giving them specific commands.

Make sure you have selected a particular area outside your house for the pup to defecate and urinate. Ensure you take the dog to that specific spot whenever it wants to pee. The area should be away from sight and exclusive for that pup. Within a short time, your pup will remember its urine smell and associate the spot with its bathroom.

Also, make it a norm to use certain words to command the pet when you take it to pee outside. Make the dog understand what you want it to do. Always be consistent because dogs have great memories. They will remember the commands and know what they are supposed to do.

Always remember to praise and reward the pup when it recognizes the command and obeys. Also, appreciate it every time it uses the defecating area appropriately. You can use a happy and cheerful voice to make the pup realize that you are pleased. Reward it with a biscuit or food and make it consistent so that the dog can use the area appropriately and expect a reward.

If the pup accidentally pees in the house, ensure that you have cleaned immediately. Use enzymatic cleaners and deodorants to get rid of the urine smell. If you do not clean right away, the pet may use the area again. The urine smell may not go away, and this will make the pet remember it thus continue using the area.

Training a dog is not an easy task. These pups need to understand commands and associate them with want they are expected to do. For this reason, it is wise to use specific words or commands every time you want them to pee or poop. This will help them understand these commands.
